Frost & Sullivan awarded Schneider Electric the 2023 Global Product Leadership Award for “Best Practice” in recognition of the platform’s excellent performance in technological innovation, market recognition, and product leadership.
Sebastian Trolli, Senior Industry Analyst at Frost & Sullivan, praised Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure open automation platform as a disruptive innovation in the global industrial automation sector.
Customer Success: Brilliant Planet’s Carbon Capture Project with EcoStruxure
Behind this industry recognition lies the successful application of Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure open automation platform by customers. Recently, Brilliant Planet announced the deployment of the EcoStruxure open automation platform in its carbon capture project.
As a pioneer in algae carbon capture technology, Brilliant Planet cultivates microalgae in open-air pond systems in coastal areas, enabling permanent and quantifiable carbon capture and storage from the atmosphere on a massive scale, reaching up to a billion tons.
However, expanding this project globally faced significant challenges. The carbon capture process required a highly flexible and efficient control system with scalability.
Modular and standardized application deployment was the solution to efficiently scale industrial automation software systems. Thus, Brilliant Planet chose to deploy the EcoStruxure open automation platform.
This platform not only reduced integration and testing time for control software at various project sites but also allowed for the creation of a customizable, extendable system based on standardized applications. It integrates with the AVEVA system platform and AVEVA Insight for comprehensive visual management and control.
Adam Taylor, CEO of Brilliant Planet, stated, “Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure open automation platform solution enables us to replicate, transplant, and extend control systems across various projects, enhancing our resource management capabilities and utilization efficiency. In the future, we hope to further expand our carbon capture projects based on this system.”
