The AADvance® controller serves as a tailored solution for functional safety and critical control applications, providing adaptability for smaller-scale requirements. The AADvance controller uniquely addresses emergency shutdown and fire and gas detection, providing integrated, distributed fault tolerance. It conforms to international standards and holds certifications from independent bodies for functional safety control and UL for hazardous environments.
Modular Flexibility
The AADvance controller’s modular architecture enables straightforward assembly into systems. These systems, comprising one or more controllers, I/O modules, power sources, communication networks, and computers, can operate as standalone units or integrated components of a larger control system.
Configuration Versatility
A standout feature is the system’s adaptability. Configurations seamlessly integrate modules and assemblies without special cables. Users can reconfigure system architectures with ease, maintaining operational simplicity. Processor and I/O redundancy is configurable, allowing the flexibility to choose between fail-safe and fault-tolerant solutions. Additional redundancy doesn’t impact the controller’s handling capacity or programming complexity.
Mounting and Cooling
The AADvance modules can be DIN rail-mounted in cabinets or wall-mounted in control rooms. Notably, they do not require forced air cooling or specialized environmental control. However, careful consideration is necessary for enclosure selection, especially in hazardous environments.
Communication Flexibility
Ethernet and serial ports offer configurable protocols, supporting simplex and redundant configurations for connections with other AADvance controllers and third-party equipment. Proprietary communication protocols are employed for internal communication between processors and I/O modules over custom wiring harnesses. The AADvance system further accommodates transport layer communication protocols like TCP and UDP for services such as MODBUS, CIP, SNCP, Telnet, and SNTP.
Secure Network Communication
A secure network communications protocol (SNCP) developed by Rockwell Automation for the AADvance system enables distributed control and safety via new or existing network infrastructure, ensuring data security and integrity. Local controllers facilitate connections to sensors and actuators, minimizing dedicated field cabling lengths. The distributed system can be managed from conveniently placed computers rather than a centralized equipment room.
