INTRODUCTION
The 5701 Series Control System is a sophisticated microprocessor-based system designed to display readings and statuses from connected gas detectors. This system offers robust alarm handling capabilities and comprehensive maintenance features.
In a rack system, multiple single-channel control cards are installed, each paired with an associated field/relay card responsible for sensor input and optional relay output connections. Each channel control card independently handles basic alarm operations and operations.
For more complex alarm handling, communication takes place between a designated number of control cards via the rack’s backplane. An engineering card is also installed in each rack, serving to manage rack backplane communications, control card interrogation, and facilitating maintenance tasks. Additionally, optional modules on the engineering card can provide extra system outputs.
System power supplies, auxiliary power supplies, and battery backup systems are typically connected to the rack via a DC Input Card. However, for installations demanding high integrity, power supplies can be directly linked to each individual control card.
RACKS
Each rack assembly comprises a sub-rack, Engineering Card, DC Input Card, key kit, and, when necessary, an interconnecting cable. Depending on the configuration, the control system is housed in one of four standard-size sub-racks:
a. Full 19 inches wide by 3U high – Part Number 05701-A-0511, designed for rear field wiring connections.
b. Full 19 inches wide by 6U high – Part Number 05701-A-0501, designed for front field wiring connections.
c. Half 19 inches wide by 3U high – Part Number 05701-A-0512, designed for rear field wiring connections.
d. Half 19 inches wide by 6U high – Part Number 05701-A-0502, designed for front field wiring connections.
All four versions feature two separate chambers. One chamber is shielded against electromagnetic interference and houses the control cards, while the other chamber contains the field/relay interface cards. A backplane connecting these two chambers establishes a pathway for signal routing between individual cards and the Engineering Card, as well as power supply distribution.
