The Bently Nevada 330103-00-12-10-02-CN 3300 XL 8 mm Proximity Transducer System is composed of the following components:

  • A 3300 XL 8 mm probe
  • A 3300 XL extension cable
  • A 3300 XL Proximitor® Sensor

This system delivers an output voltage that is directly proportional to the distance between the probe tip and the conductive surface under observation. It is versatile, capable of performing both static (position) and dynamic (vibration) measurements. The system is primarily used for applications involving vibration and position measurement on fluid-film bearing machines. It is also suitable for Keyphasor® and speed measurement applications.

The 330103-00-12-10-02-CN 3300 XL 8 mm system represents a significant advancement in eddy current proximity transducer systems. The standard 3300 XL 8 mm 5-meter system fully complies with the American Petroleum Institute’s (API) 670 Standard (4th Edition) regarding mechanical configuration, linear range, accuracy, and temperature stability. This level of performance is achieved across the entire system, allowing for complete interchangeability of the probe, extension cable, and Proximitor® Sensor without the need for individual component matching or bench calibration.

Each component of the 3300 XL 8 mm Transducer System is backward compatible and interchangeable with other non-XL 3300 series 5 and 8 mm transducer system components. This includes the 3300 5 mm probe, which is used in cases where an 8 mm probe is too large for the available mounting space.

Proximitor® Sensor:

The 3300 XL Proximitor® Sensor boasts several improvements over previous designs:

  • It is designed for high-density DIN-rail installation and can also be mounted traditionally in a panel mount configuration.
  • The mounting base for either option provides electrical isolation, eliminating the need for separate isolator plates.
  • The sensor is highly immune to radio frequency interference (RFI), enabling installation in fiberglass housings without issues from nearby RF signals.
  • Improved RFI/EMI immunity allows the 3300 XL Proximitor® Sensor to achieve European CE mark approvals without requiring special shielded conduit or metallic housings, reducing installation costs and complexity.
  • SpringLoc terminal strips require no special installation tools and facilitate faster, more robust field wiring connections.
  • Connector protectors are available for added environmental protection.

Proximity Probe and Extension Cable:

Improvements over previous designs include:

  • A patented TipLoc™ molding method for a stronger bond between the probe tip and probe body.
  • A patented CableLoc™ design for a secure attachment of the probe’s cable.
  • Optional FluidLoc® cable to prevent oil and liquid leaks through the cable’s interior.
  • Corrosion-resistant, gold-plated ClickLoc™ connectors that require only finger-tight torque and feature a locking mechanism.
  • Optional connector protectors for increased environmental protection.

Extended Temperature Range Applications:

An Extended Temperature Range (ETR) Probe and Extension Cable are available for applications where temperature exceeds 177 °C (350 °F). The ETR probe has an extended temperature rating of up to 260 °C (500 °F), and the ETR extension cable is rated for the same temperature. These components are compatible with standard temperature probes and cables.

Please note:

  1. Proximitor® Sensors come calibrated to AISI 4140 steel by default.
  2. For overspeed protection applications, refer to the Applications Note.
  3. 3300 XL 8 mm components are interchangeable with non-XL 3300 5 and 8 mm components, both electrically and physically.
  4. When mixing XL and non-XL 3300-series 5 and 8 mm components, system performance aligns with non-XL 3300 specifications.
  5. The 3300 5 mm probe is used when physical constraints prevent the use of an 8 mm probe.
  6. It’s recommended to use 8 mm probes for optimal robustness against physical abuse.
  7. Silicone tape can be used as an alternative to connector protectors, but it’s not recommended for turbine oil-exposed connections.
