FANUC to Unveil New Robots, Cobots, and Controllers at IMTS 2024
ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich.—August 27, 2024 (BUSINESS WIRE)—FANUC, a global leader in industrial automation, is set to debut its latest robots, cobots, and machining solutions at the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) 2024 in Chicago. This event will also introduce two new advanced controller technologies.
FANUC America CEO Mike Cicco Announces New Automation Solutions
“Whether you’re a small shop or a high-volume producer, we have the automated manufacturing solutions to help you grow and sustain your business into the future,” says Mike Cicco, CEO of FANUC America. “At IMTS 2024, we’re excited to showcase two new controllers powering that evolution—the R-50iA Robot Controller and 500i-A CNC—both offering powerful performance, optimized efficiency, and more security than ever before.”
Collaborative Robot Zone
The FANUC America booth will showcase cutting-edge automation solutions, including a variety of collaborative robots. These cobots offer flexibility in shared workspaces, featuring demonstrations of machine tending, heavy payload handling, and new applications powered by the all-new R-50iA Controller. This controller is designed to maximize performance and ease of use while providing enhanced cyber security.
Innovations in Materials Joining
FANUC will debut the new M-950iA/500, a heavyweight robot with a 500 kg payload capacity and 2,830 mm reach, in a friction stir welding demonstration featuring the StirRob Friction Stir Welding Head by FPT Industrie. Also being shown for the first time in the U.S. is the new M800/60-20B with High-Speed Laser Cutting capabilities, featuring advanced technology for precision and speed.
New Controllers Deliver Powerful Performance
The new R-50iA robot controller and 500i-A CNC will make their North American debut. These controllers offer enhanced performance, optimized efficiency, and advanced cyber security. The R-50iA is the first robot controller to offer international cyber security certification (IEC62443-4-1 and 4-2), providing multiple layers of defense to secure data exchange.
High-Performing Machining Solutions
FANUC will showcase its Factory Automation demonstrations, including the new FANUC Series 500i-A CNC. This demo will feature a “Ghost Machine” display, simulating cutting processes using FANUC products like CNCs, robots, and ROBODRILLs.
Vertical Machining Centers
FANUC will unveil the α-D28LiB5ADV Plus Y500, the latest addition to its ROBODRILL vertical machining center (VMC) lineup. This new VMC features a larger table, faster tool changes, and increased tool storage capacity.
Connected Technologies
FANUC’s IoT offerings, ZDT and MT-Linki, will be showcased, demonstrating advanced analytics that connect FANUC equipment and provide insights for smarter, faster business decisions.
FANUC Is Committed to Transforming the World Through Automation
FANUC recently announced the establishment of the $1 million FANUC Automation Endowed Scholarship Fund in collaboration with the SME Education Foundation. This initiative aims to support the next generation of skilled professionals in advanced manufacturing and automation.
“We’re excited to return to the IMTS Smartforce Student Summit this year and continue our work to advance the education of future automation technicians and engineers,” says Paul Aiello, Director of Education for FANUC America.
